Jerry Schaffer

Mr. Schaffer graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 with a degree in Political Science in 1991. He was a Haas Scholar at Cal. He was the Social Chair of his fraternity.

He received academic scholarship to attend Southwestern University School of Law and was granted his Juris Doctor degree in 1994. Mr. Schaffer was recruited by the Orange County District Attorney to be a paid law clerk in 1993. While in law school, Mr. Schaffer tutored fellow law students to support himself and clerked at the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Upon graduation, Mr. Schaffer was hired as a deputy DA in 1994 (11/94). Mr. Schaffer worked as a Deputy District Attorney for 17 years before opening his criminal defense practice in Santa Ana.

As a former Senior Deputy District Attorney, Mr. Schaffer is very aware of how cases get filed and what can be done to prevent charges to be filed against you. Many times, getting your side of the story to the D.A. before formal criminal charges are filed, can lead to no prosecution being sought.

Because Mr. Schaffer worked as a gang-homicide prosecutor for ten years, he is knowledgeable of not only deputy DA's, but also their bosses and supervisors. Mr. Schaffer has tried cases in all Justice Centers in Orange County, including Juvenile Court.
